When Should You Book Newborn Photos in Plano and DFW?

By Marianna · Golden Art Photography · Updated 2026-10-10

Contact your newborn photographer during pregnancy, rather than waiting until your baby arrives. At Golden Art Photography, Marianna recommends the first 5–14 days for sleepy newborn portraits. Start by sharing your due date and the photographs you would love; then confirm the booking details together. A due-date inquiry is the beginning of planning, rather than a guarantee of a particular session date.

For families in Plano, Dallas, Frisco, Allen, McKinney and the wider Dallas–Fort Worth area, deciding on the setting and who will be photographed before birth can make those first days feel less crowded with decisions.

What should you arrange before your baby arrives?

You do not need to know every detail at the first inquiry. A few choices give Marianna a useful starting point:

  • Your due date: share it when you contact the studio and ask how your session date will be confirmed.
  • Your setting: choose the prepared Plano studio or discuss an in-home session at your address.
  • Who is joining: decide whether you want baby-only portraits or photographs with parents, siblings and grandparents.
  • The photographs you enjoy: bring ideas about colors, wraps and family combinations without expecting your baby to match a particular pose.

Our newborn portfolio examples can help you explain the look you like. Read the studio versus in-home guide if you are still deciding where to have your photographs taken.

Why does Golden Art suggest the first 5–14 days?

This is Golden Art's preferred photography window for sleepy, curled newborn portraits. It is a planning guide, rather than a requirement that every baby follow the same pattern. Sessions are baby-led, with time for feeding and soothing. Your baby's comfort matters more than completing a particular pose.

Follow your baby's usual care and your family's own needs. You do not need to change feeding or sleep routines to prepare for photographs. If you have concerns about visiting the studio, share them when planning your session.

What if the baby arrives earlier or later than expected?

Ask Marianna how to communicate after the birth and how your date will be confirmed. Due dates are an estimate, so it helps to discuss scheduling before making a fixed plan for everyone joining the photographs. Do not assume a change, reserved date or available opening until you have confirmed it with the studio.

If your baby has already arrived, include their age and your preferred dates in your inquiry. If the suggested early window has passed, ask what photographs and timing are possible for your family. Availability and the session plan need to be confirmed individually.

Should you book baby-only or family newborn photos?

Simply Baby is the baby-only collection. The Family Story and Deluxe Newborn Experience include your baby with parents, siblings and grandparents. Choosing this beforehand helps family members plan outfits and know whether they need to attend.

Tell Marianna which combinations mean the most to you: your baby alone, siblings together, parents holding the baby or a portrait with grandparents. See the current newborn collections for the setups, retouches and printed extras included in each package.

What does booking cost?

Current newborn packages start at $600. A $50 non-refundable deposit is applied toward your package total. Friday–Sunday and holiday sessions add $60. In-home newborn setup adds $75; travel to a location more than 15 miles from the Plano studio adds a separate $75 fee. Review the booking details and confirm the fees for your date and setting before reserving.

The studio is at 7909 Stapleton Dr, Plano, TX 75025, by appointment. Families across our DFW service areas can ask about the studio or an in-home session. Sharing your location lets Marianna confirm the plan without guessing travel charges from a city name.

When will your newborn photographs be ready?

Your gallery is delivered within 2–5 days after the session. Packages include all the best professionally selected and edited high-resolution images, a private online gallery and a print release. You can then enjoy the photographs at home and share this new chapter with your family.

How can you plan the next chapter?

You do not need to book every future milestone now. After your newborn portraits, explore baby milestone and first-birthday photographs or family sessions when those moments approach. Returning clients receive 5% off, and each session is arranged separately.

Send Marianna your due date, city and preferred setting to start planning. For a closer look at the experience, read what to expect during a newborn photography session.
