Cake Smash Photo Session Checklist for Plano Families

A cake smash photo session celebrates your baby’s first birthday through portraits and photographs of the smashing process. At Golden Art Photography in Plano, the cake is not included: you bring it, and Marianna captures your baby’s reactions and the messy moments.

Choose baby-only or family photographs first

Simple & Sweet is a baby-only collection, with no parents in the photographs. If you want photographs with your baby, select a family collection and check its current inclusions. Deciding this first helps you plan outfits and know who needs to be ready for portraits.

Bring your cake and a change of clothes

• Your own cake, selected for your child’s dietary needs.
• The outfit you want photographed, plus a clean change for afterward.
• Your usual baby supplies and cleanup essentials for the trip home.
• A familiar comfort item, if it helps your baby settle.
• Any personal item or theme idea you have discussed with Marianna.

Tell Marianna about your preferred colors and theme beforehand. Coordinate outfits with the setting, rather than adding several competing patterns or large logos. Check your chosen package’s outfit allowance when planning different looks.

Work around your baby’s routine

Share your baby’s usual nap and mealtime routine when choosing a date. A familiar rhythm can make the experience easier. Babies react differently to new settings and textures: some explore immediately, while others take time to become comfortable. The photographs can capture that curiosity without requiring a particular expression.

Know how your photographs are delivered

Packages include all the best professionally selected and edited high-resolution images, a private online gallery and a print release. Photos are delivered within 2–5 days after your session. Review the package details for retouches, video or printed extras.
